Our lives are defined by progress. New technological devices are developed daily and innovative creations rarely shock us. We were amazed when computers were introduced. We began incorporating them into our daily lives at work and school. Slowly but surely those large desktop dinosaurs crept into our home lives, bringing seemingly limitless depths of information right into our home offices. Just when the desktop became a staple item in our homes, laptops hit the shelves. Our business and social lives became instantly mobile and much more convenient.
Recently, another change has taken our tech world by storm. Tablets have revolutionized our lives. We all know that type faces and images on our smartphones are far too small. That’s why you purchased your laptop, right? It’s a fairly new conundrum, but the fact is, your laptop is just too big! I bet you never thought you would hear that, but here we are. It seems that everyone who’s anyone has the luxury of a tablet. No, we’re not talking tablets of paper here, but they’re almost as lightweight by comparison. They are handheld computers. I’m not sure what they can’t do. I’m drafting this post from my iPad as we speak. My touchscreen keypad works just as well as your laptop’s physical keys and I’ll easily close this program, slip my iPad into my purse, and head off to lunch when I’m finished here.
So what does this really have to do with your laptop? Well, the fact is, you just don’t need it anymore. Experts with the IDC predict that tablets will outsell laptops by 2015.
